“I enlisted when I was 17 because it was either the Navy or the circus,” said Cmdr. Thomas Davy III. “If you told me this would be a career of 36 years, I would have laughed.”
Former Navy Cmdr. Thomas Davy III retired from the U.S. Navy Medical Service Corps last March. During his service, he focused on national public health and helped write the Navy’s plan to deal with pandemic influenza.
Davy now substitute teaches at the International Language Academy. For Veterans Day, he gave a tour of the National Mall to a dozen foreign students—mostly from Saudi Arabia. The students will interview veterans on the Mall to improve their English.
